�鶹����ý��վ Builders is proud to announce that Ashley Beachkofski, Safety Coordinator and accomplished tradeswoman, has been named the 2025 Carpenter Apprentice of the Year by the Northern California Carpenters Union Local 217. The award was presented on May 13, 2025, and marks a historic milestone — Ashley is the first female apprentice to receive this honor from Local 217 in 37 years.

Ashley’s recognition is a testament to her hard work, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence. She began her career in the trades through Project Build by Job Train in Menlo Park, a pre-apprenticeship program that helped launch her into a successful apprentice with the Carpenters Training Committee for Northern California (CTCNC). Throughout her training, she distinguished herself both in the classroom and on the job site.

The Apprentice of the Year award is based on three key criteria: union involvement, academic achievement, and employment consistency. Ashley excelled in each. She serves as a delegate to the Regional Council, maintains an active voice in union meetings, and is a driving force behind the FOCUS Committee, which supports and uplifts the sisters of the union.

“Ashley is a textbook apprentice — a mentor, a leader, and an inspiration,” said Edward Evans, Senior Field Representative from Local 217. “She sets the gold standard for what it means to serve the union and elevate others.”

Ashley’s impact extends beyond her apprenticeship. She is the recipient of the Paul Cook Award from Job Train, presented on May 11, 2023, which honors a graduate who best exemplifies the spirit of rising above one’s past limitations and achieving extraordinary success in their chosen field. Additionally, she received the Volunteer Workman Award on April 20, 2023, recognizing her commitment to the union through volunteerism and service.

Since joining �鶹����ý��վ Builders in March 2024, Ashley has made a powerful impression. She was promoted to Safety Coordinator in December 2024, where she continues to advocate for jobsite safety, worker empowerment, and a culture of inclusion.

Ashley joins a distinguished group of �鶹����ý��վ Builders employees who have previously earned this honor, including Aaron Lopez and Tausili Ia. Her achievement continues a proud tradition of �鶹����ý��վ apprentices leading with excellence and integrity.

Led by Karen Goldman-Giammona, the �鶹����ý��վ Family was happy to help and bring everyone together for a fun day of golf.

Several �鶹����ý��վ team members, golfers, and golf angels at the end of the day – the picture was taken at the taco stand and chili pepper stand.

After the event, participants and friends were invited to dinner along with an auction and raffle drawings.  Auction prizes include San Francisco Ballet Tickets, SF Giants Tickets, and a trip to Hawaii.  Raffle drawings had the grand prize of a BBQ grill.

“This is one of three new classroom addition projects in the American High School attendance area,” said John Chwastyk, FUSD Director of Facilities and Construction. “The other two projects are at Brookvale and Patterson Elementary schools, with each getting a new eight-classroom building.

The buildings are constructed with energy efficient material and mechanical systems designed to provide optimal health and learning environments for students.  The project team is a collaborative effort between �鶹����ý��վ Builders, SVA Architects, Roebbelen, and Project Frog.

More than 162 Irvington High School students took their learning out into the field when their physics teacher Henry Fung arranged for five classes to visit the construction site of 12-classroom building where �鶹����ý��վ Builders has teamed up with SVA Architects, and Project Frog.

The goal for this project was to renovate both the interior and exterior of the building, while preserving its historic look as if no work had been done at all.  It was a challenge to preserve the buildings historic look while replacing major structural supports, windows, custom architectural peace’s, and 100 year old wood gutters.

There were many other piece’s to this project which added to its difficulty, including a tight schedule, strict time frame at which we could work, as the building was in use during construction.  The Faculty is a very popular place to hold events, seminars, and weddings.  There is a hotel, rooms for rent for events, a full bar and kitchen that could not be disturbed.  �鶹����ý��վ has been able to complete our work with minimal disturbances to the Faculty Clubs daily routine.
